Chuck & Jake

chuckandjake_stylexwebsite.jpg
Founded in 2009, our company is an Austin, Texas clothing and lifestyle brand influenced by the unique and vibrant ethos of our eclectic city. Everything started on a sleepy cul-de-sac one day when we saw a new take on the traditional pocket tee as a way to connect to the wonderfully varied tastes in the Austin community and the world beyond.
With one sewing machine, some fabric, shirts, and thread, our vision of Chuck & Jake had begun. We make apparel that draws upon timeless fashion sensibilities of youthful casual elegance. Comfortable clothes for any person that through the details of the custom pocket, hint at the finer, blithe side of life. We do not reproduce the same style twice; each line is made up of limited numbers so once a style is gone, it’s gone. When you own a piece of C&J apparel, you are among a small group of people wearing that item. In addition to the custom pocket, our brand is also about our blog. The blog shares the same qualities as the pockets: varied, lighthearted, and youthful. It’s all about that which inspires us, interests us, and who we are. We aim for those same impressions to be reflected in our apparel. We hope you enjoy our clothing and blog as much as we enjoy making them.

"Everyone deserves a pocket."

Dandy's The Gentlemen Store

dandys_stylexwebsite.jpg
Dandy’s The Gentleman’s Store offers 1870’s to 1930’s inspired bespoke, reproduction and vintage gentleman's garb. Inspired being the key element as the initial image one conjures up is likely to be costumed period attire. However, from the modernized cut of their 1870’s style Sack Suit and ready to wear shirts, casual fabrics and prints used to outfit their handmade bow ties and wallets, to the casual shape and mix of textures of their spat inspired boot, the line is stylishly wearable for the modern dandy and his comrades who fancy manly and affordable opulence.

A fate of the husband and wife’s turn of the previous century inspired nuptials in 2010 and the lack of options for men in the hue and the old time fashion they so feverishly sought for most of the previous year, they dreamed of one day filling the gentlemanly void and with a handsomely accessible price tag. The stars finally aligned in 2011 and the Mr. and Mrs.’ mutual passion for all things old worldly, vintage, style, fashion, music, and to be entrepreneurs while continuing to be happily coupled throughout an extraordinary life together, Dandy’s The Gentleman’s Store came to exist.

deeFind

deefind_stylexwebsite.jpg
"Inspired by living in San Francisco, I wanted to design shoes that were quite unique, works of art and offered accessibility to women to really bare all in deeFind shoes.  Conceptually futuristic architecture has always been appealing to me: dynamic angles, bold lines, audacious structural gestures – all frequently reflected in my design aesthetic.  In keeping with the sensibilities of futurism exploring, the desired outcome was incorporate sustainable materials, while providing drop-dead sexy, eco-conscious products.  Working hard to produce the most refined designs I am capable of, as I fanatically search for alternative materials and creative methods.  Each handmade pair of deeFind shoes is constructed in humane working conditions with comparable wages.  deeFind will donate a percentage of proceeds to environmental conservation and women's services." - Dierdre Wallace, Owner/Designer:

Dimovi

dimovi_stylexwebsite.jpg
Designed by Amanda Dimova and made in her family's Texas shoe factory (which has been making shoes in USA for 25 years), these ain't no cowboy boots. Bizarre material and color mixtures makes for a  funky twist on the ueber classic desert boot pattern. With colors like neon green, metallic magenta, and giant fuzzy jaguar, some people think they can't pull off the look, but never fear, there is always a toned down version each season, like industrial grey felt or incredibly supple pebbled brown.

The fit is closer to a sock than a shoe, because the incredibly soft upper stretches and forms to give the wearer a custom fit. The natural crepe rubber soles absorb shock while allowing the boot to be so flexible it can roll up like a taquito. It's time shoes are made to fit feet, and not the other way around.

KICKBARS/SNEAKBARS

kickbars_stylexwebsite.jpg
Nothing is sexier than the perfect piece of bling, and KICKBARS creator, Robert B. Martin Jr. has designed an accessory that exudes not only sexiness but also style and sophistication. KICKBARS, diamond encrusted bars that lace through shoe-laces, are giving ordinary kicks an extraordinary statement. Robert was raised in the grand ol’ state of Texas which is partly to credit for his unpretentious and endearing personality. As a child, Robert’s eye was drawn to the shine of his mother’s costume jewelry. He would adorn a glitzy ring to the shoe-laces of his sneakers, creating his own unique street-style. An ordinary childhood short on luxury but long on creativity, eventually led Robert to a career as an actor in Hollywood. His interaction with celebrity style has given him a unique perspective from a designer’s standpoint. Never forgetting his love of street-style, the desire to re-invent his “shoe jewelry” took over, thus, KICKBARS was born.

Marrying the old and the new….novel expressions of texture and color…the classic with the unexpected:  the Indie Manic Trout jewelry brand brings a certain funky finesse to a clichéd medium.    Sierra riffs on traditional motifs, a 34 year old who puts her individual stamp on vintage and one-of-a-kind, with a quirky and individual twist.

Shira Melody Jewelry

shira_melody_stylexwebsite.jpg
Shira Melody's inspiration comes from its namesake designer Shira Wasserman. Over the last decade, while traveling the world from South Texas to Tokyo and living between her hometown of Kansas City and fashion hub New York City, the seeds for Shira's collection were firmly planted.

Now living in Austin, Texas, Shira has brought her collection to life after spending 10 years designing and creating jewelry as a hobby. This jewelry line was created for the fashion-forward shopper with both quality and value in mind. Shira felt there was a gap between inexpensive, poorly made jewelry and high end costume jewelry that would last more than a season but for a higher price tag.  So she took matters into her own hands and created an on trend, edgy line that will last many seasons to come, but at an affordable price.  The necklaces, bracelets and earrings that make up this collection were designed to be worn and layered together to suit each customer's own individual style.  Metal chains, semi-precious stones and genuine leathers are combined for a one-of-a-kind, edgy look that you will not find anywhere else.

shoveIt Designs

shoveit_stylexwebsite.jpg
Ride. Wreck. Reincarnate. Memphis-based Shannon Cable and Dawn McKay of shoveIt designs transform broken skateboards into wicked wearable art. This evolution emphasizes the boards’ bright graphics, colorful layers and rail-worn history.

Ride. Ask 25-year skater Shannon about perspective, and he’ll tell you that skaters see things differently. A planter or handrail takes on new purpose as the skater calculates angles and lines. Similarly, Shannon and Dawn study each deck and approach design as an emergent process.

Wreck. Something beautiful and brutal happens when a skater connects with his/her board and the street. shoveIt designs are never made from new, undamaged boards. They use skateboards with history.

Reincarnate. Graphics, layers of Canadian maple, battle scars—shoveIt takes this raw material from skateboard to eco-fashion. The process is OG woodshop. You won’t find any computers or lasers in shoveIt’s work space—just some blades, blood and creativity.

Urbanears

urbanears_stylexwebsite.jpg
Urbanears makes headphones that fit your everyday life. With a legacy in functionality, we supply the perfect listening
device for anyone with a pocket full of music and a wish to make the most of it. Our four models all display individuality and expression to match preferences in size, style, design, function and relation to music. Urbanears is not intended for any specific sub culture, age group, sex, religion, race or nationality. Rather, we make headphones for anyone who is inclined to listen to music, no matter what kind.

Much more important than anything else, we make Urbanears for you. We know for a fact that you are carrying a few weeks worth of music in your pocket, or maybe audio books, language courses or simply a radio receiver. Statistically you are a city dweller listening to whatever this device holds going back and forth to work or school, at your desk, walking, riding your bike, running, traveling or just sinking in to your music with full attention. However, just as likely you live in  a remote forrest, it really doesn’t matter. We are convinced that you would consider the aesthetics of any type of hat before you bought it and put it on and that you feel the same way about a headphone. No doubt you have very little interest in bold logos printed over something you wear on a daily basis.

Vinca

vinca_stylexwebsite.jpg
In 2006, then a college sophomore at UT, Amanda Dimova decided to officially start her own business after a comment by a classmate, “You keep talking about it, either shut up or do it.” She filed for her DBA that month. By utilizing leather scraps from a nearby shoe factory, she created a line and dubbed it Vinca, after the five petaled flower cut-outs she punched out of the leather. After pedaling the line around to several local shops she got a few accounts here and there, but shortly ran out of ideas with which to use the little flowers. So she started cutting shapes out of the leather; bunnies, fish, panthers, faces, etc. The rule being, if she’d seen it before, think of something else. Now the line is known for exuberant use of tiny animals, mismatched earrings that go together (like the fox head and tail), as well as wild materials like glitter acrylic and exotic woods.

Founded by college friends Gerard Maione and Seth Weisser, What Goes Around Comes Around (WGACA) began as a meticulously edited vintage boutique in SoHo, New York. After more than a decade spent traveling the globe in search of the finest vintage clothing and antiquities, Maione and Weisser launched the WGACA Collection, a vintage-inspired line for women and men.
