According to Shinyribs’ website, Kevin Russell, also frontman of The Gourds, started Shinyribs “to stretch out as a performer and band leader.” Russell’s solo project has come a long way since it formed in 2008. He just released his second full-length album under the name Shinyribs, Gulf Coast Museum, this past April 16. KUT states that the album is a tour through Russell’s “unique universe, featuring folk ballads, soul struts” and more. Shinyribs is currently on tour in the US and will be performing at the Austin City Limits Music Festival this fall.
Attend the 2014 SXSW Interactive Festival for FREE by getting involved in our scholarship program. Now in its fourth year, this scholarship program leverages the knowledge of the international SXSW community. More specifically, we ask the international community to help us identify some of the non-profit heros from across the United States and around the world who are using digital tools to help empower the less fortunate members of our community. Complete details on the 2014 scholarship program for SXSW Interactive Festival will be announced via this website in early August – stay tuned for complete details here!
